My friend Corrie bought this camera when she was spending time in Thailand. It sparked her love for photography. In some ways, I wish the D90 wasn’t my first camera purchase, so that I could fall in love with something raw and organic.
Jorge Quinteros, blogger and photographer extraordinaire, turns 29 today. I highly doubt he would admit to needing anything for his birthday, however a great way to celebrate would be to purchase a print off of his excellent Things Shot collection. I’ve purchased this Polaroid shot and can’t wait to get it in the mail!
My dream is to go to New York for a month sometime and have Jorge teach me photography. Until then, I simply have to rely on excellent posts like this to get me through.
My band, Boss Rebel, had the honour of opening for Toronto’s illScarlett last night at Norma Jean’s in London. The show was sold out, and it was a party from start to finish.
Here are some shots I took of my friends and the other bands. Check out the rest at Flickr.
This is the first concert I have shot with my new D90 and I learned a lot from the experience. Definitely tough to find a balance between nice, artistic lighting, capturing the action, and getting angles that don’t seem as though I’m standing in the same spot the whole show.
The 50mm prime lens was a little limiting, as the lead guitarist was way on the other side of the stage, while the bass player was right in front of me. I’d love to know what lens those with more experience would recommend. If you have some thoughts, feel free to email me or hit me up on Twitter.
Yesterday I tweeted a screenshot of my recent desktop setup. My friend Patrick Rhone was kind enough to post the screenshot to Minimal Mac, and it has generated quite a bit of attention to my little blog here.
A couple of people have asked where they can get a copy of the wallpaper displayed in the screenshot. The image was actually a test shot I took with my new Nikon D90, just to see what using the manual focus on my 50mm f/1.8 lens was like. For whatever reason, I really liked the natural colour combinations that taking a picture of a plant in front of a window produced.
As a way of saying thanks to Patrick, Minimal Mac and its readers for visiting, I thought I would share the image with all of you. Just click the image below to download the 2560x1600px wallpaper.
Took my first shots with my D90 last night. Just used the Auto setting as I don’t have a clue how to work this thing yet. I love that feeling of anticipation though! I have a clean slate to work with.
This is a shot of my brother. I know he isn’t smiling; I just liked the lighting on his face.
